This stylish book presents legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent’s maxims on fashion, craftsmanship, women, and inspiration in an elegant gift format. Founded in 1962 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, shortly after the young couturier left his position at Christian Dior, the Yves Saint Laurent house quickly became one of Paris’s most successful and influential haute couture institutions.

In 1966, Saint Laurent revolutionised women’s fashion by introducing Le Smoking, the first tuxedo suit for women. He also created iconic, art-inspired pieces—from Mondrian dresses to exquisite Van Gogh embroidery and the celebrated Ballets Russes collection.

Throughout his career, Saint Laurent prioritised the women who wore his clothes, famously stating, “What’s most important in couture is the body we dress, the woman we dress, more so than the ideas we might have.” He was also determined to change societal attitudes, insisting that “Fashion’s purpose was not only to make a woman look beautiful, but also to reassure them and to give them confidence.”
